SM joins world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative

SM President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio delivers the acceptance speech for SM’s inclusion in UNGC

(20 August 2019, Pasay City, Philippines)   SM Investments Corporation (SM) has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. UNGC welcomed SM as a new member during the UNGC- Global Reporting Initiative regional sustainability summit held on August 20, 2019, at the Conrad Manila in Pasay City. As a signatory, SM commits to uphold the Ten Principles of the UNGC on engaging in just labor, upholding human rights, promoting environmental responsibility, and working against corruption. 

“Our membership to the UNGC is a seal of our commitment to uphold global standards of sustainable business practices and to do our share towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” SM President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio said. 

SM now joins over 30 companies in the Philippines that are members of the UNGC. The UNGC guides and supports the global business community in advancing UN goals and values.

With more than 9,000 companies in over 160 countries and 70 networks across the globe, it is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
