SM joins WEF discussion on Education-Entrepreneurship-Employment

(05 June 2014) SM Investments Corporation Vice Chairperson Teresita Sy-Coson (third from left) sits on the panel for the Education-Entrepreneurship-Employment Nexus in the recently held World Economic Forum on East Asia in Manila last May 21-23,2014.

Mrs. Coson participated in the discussion that highlighted the importance of education and entrepreneurship which are integral in generating employment and driving economic growth in the region.

Mrs. Coson said that entrepreneurship in particular will flourish given available opportunities.

“Entrepreneurs are everywhere. It’s a matter of giving them more opportunities. Like for us in the malls, there are opportunities for them to market their items and provide their services and some of them become a bigger business,” she said.

SM is a committed investor in the Philippines, has grown steadily over the last five and a half decades amidst the highs and lows of the Philippine economy and gaining market leadership in retail, property, and banking. The company continues to invest heavily in these sectors while it hones other portfolio investments to achieve sustainable growth and support the country’s development footprint.
