Henry Sy Foundation to help build new art, science, and technology lab

Architect’s Perspective of the Henry Sy Innovation Center

(05 August 2015. Quezon City, Philippines) The Henry Sy Foundation will build a new innovation center-art, science, and technology lab at Miriam College in Quezon City.

To be named the “Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center”, construction will begin in September 2015 for the cylindrical building that will house the workshop rooms, fabrication laboratories, and exhibition spaces for the projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math of the Basic Education students as well as for Higher Education students taking up Entrepreneurship, Visual Arts and Communication.

Designed by Architect Eduardo Calma, The Henry Sy, Sr. Innovation Center drew inspiration from “a  water ripple that is created from a drop”. The cylindrical space, “being the center where innovative ideas are formed, would ripple outward”. Likewise, the outer labs “are incubators of ideas which pass through critique and exhibition”.
