Watsons gives smiles to children

Watsons aims to help 400 children with cleft lip and cleft palate through its medical missions in Dumaguete, Iloilo, and Tacloban.

Tuesday, Nov 27, 2018, Manila Standard. In the Philippines, an estimated number of 4,500 children are born every year with cleft lip and cleft palate.

According to Operation Smile, an international medical service organization that has provided hundreds of thousands of free surgeries for children and young adults born with the condition, nine in 10 children born with it could die due to a lack of access to safe surgery.

Since 2013, leading health and beauty retailer Watsons has been partnering with Operation Smile to give children born with cleft lip and cleft palate a chance to smile through free and safe surgeries.

This year, Watsons is committed to helping 400 children through its medical missions in Dumaguete, Iloilo, and Tacloban. From today until Dec. 26, shoppers can use their Watsons Card or SM Advantage Card points to donate.
