SM provides vaccination centers for LGUs nationwide

Since March 2021, the Philippines has been recording record-high numbers of new infections, causing the country to be once again under a stricter community quarantine. Even with plenty recovering from the infection, unfortunately, many have also lost their lives.

To help control this situation, an accelerated and consistent roll-out of vaccines is the best defense Filinos have against the virus.

In response to this, SM Supermalls begins its multi-mall COVID-19 vaccination program by offering its spaces as vaccination centers to partner LGUs nationwide.

”As part of our continuing efforts in preventing the further spread of COVID-19, SM malls all over the country can provide convenient, safe, and accessible venues for the community to get vaccinated. Through our long-standing relationship with the LGUs, we remain committed to ensuring the health and safety of the public,” said SM Supermalls president Steven Tan.

On March 29, SM together with the Municipality of Rosario in Cavite, rolled out the program entitled,”Resbakunado Tayo, Mga Taga-Rosario!” where SM City Rosario’s spacious cinema hallway was repurposed to hold the vaccination activity.

The program prioritizes the inoculation of health workers, frontliners, senior citizens, and indigents as identified by the DSWD. There are about 12,000 recipients that are expected to receive their initial vaccines.

SM has also joined hands with the Olongapo City Government for its two-day vaccination program held last March 30 to 31 at the SMX, SM City Olongapo Central. Frontliners were the first recipients and more will get vaccinated in the coming days once the next batch of vaccines arrives in the city.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Pulilan launched its vaccination activity on March 31 at SM Center Pulilan. Around 200 individuals registered for vaccinations consisting of medical workers, frontliners, and some senior citizens. Around 700 more will get vaccinated with the resumption of the activity on April 8.

SM is closely coordinating with more LGUs as it is slated to roll out more vaccination centers nationwide to help expedite the administration of vaccines and help curb the spread of the virus.
