SM aids Red Cross effort

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) yesterday received donations from SM Supermalls to be used for the isolation facilities in different universities.

PRC transformed dormitory rooms and unused classrooms in Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University and Adamson University to serve as temporary isolation facilities.

This to augment the shortage brought about by the surge of Covid-19 cases the past few weeks, causing almost all hospitals to reach their full capacity.

PRC chair and Senator Richard Gordon reached out to SM Supermalls president Steven Tan and agreed to donate 1,900 Uratex mattresses, 500 pillows and 195 pieces of linen to be used in the different isolation facilities established by the humanitarian group.

“I would like to commend SM Supermalls under the leadership of President Tan for the donation to PRC.

It is indeed part of your corporate social responsibility to help those people who need it the most. We are all together in this fight against Covid-19,” Gordon said.

The isolation facilities are expected to become operational this week to prevent asymptomatic Covid-19 patients from infecting their families at home.
