Red Cross receives donations for isolation facilities

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Wednesday received donations from SM Supermalls to be used for the isolation facilities in the different universities.

PRC transformed dormitory rooms and unused classrooms in Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle University (DLSU), and Adamson University (AdU) to serve as temporary isolation facilities.

This aims to augment the shortage brought about by the surge of Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks, causing almost all hospitals to reach their full capacity.

PRC chairman and Senator Richard Gordon reached out to SM Supermalls President Steven Tan and agreed to donate 1,900 Uratex mattresses, 500 pillows and 195 linens to be used in the different isolation facilities established by the humanitarian group.

The virtual event was attended by Tan, Chair of SM Foundation Debbie Sy, ADMU President Fr. Bobby Yap, UP President Danilo Concepcion, President of De La Salle Philippines Br. Armin Luistro, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Br. Edmundo Fernandez, and AdU President Fr. Marcelo Manimtim.
