QC gov’t open more vaccination sites in malls

The Quezon City government conducted a dry run for inoculation of residents in priority categories at four additional mall-based COVID vaccination sites this week.

Residents who registered through barangay-assisted bookings will be prioritized at SM City Sta. Mesa, Robinsons Magnolia, SM City Fairview, and Robinsons Novaliches.

The mall operators will provide their own medical personnel for the vaccination program and will also inoculate their staff that belong to the priority categories.

“This is part of our efforts to make it as easy as possible for our residents to get a shot and be protected against COVID-19,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

According to Margie Santos, head of the Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD), the partnership with the malls will allow the city government to speed up its inoculation program against COVID-19.

“Our private partners provide us with venue and manpower. In return, we provide them vaccines and supervision in administering these. These partnerships not only help ramp up our vaccination drive but also increases foot traffic in commercial areas that can help businesses recover amidst the pandemic,” said Santos.
