68 year-old-mother says getting COVID jab the best Mother’s Day gift

Pasay City’s VACC to the Future Vaccination simulation at the Giga Vaccination Center at The Galleon, SM Mall of Asia with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.

A 68-year-old mother who was chosen to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Pasay City’s Giga vaccination center said that getting her first dose of Sinovac vaccine from Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque was the best Mother’s Day gift she could ever ask for.

Dolly Superable said she was excited when she learned that no less than Health Secretary Duque would administer the vaccine to her.

“Natatakot ako talaga magpabakuna dahil sa mga nababalitaan kong meron namamatay at nagkakaroon ng adverse effect. Pero ang mabakunahan ako na mismong ang ating Health Secretary ang nagbakuna sa akin ay isang pribilehiyo (I was afraid of getting the vaccine after hearing news that some have died and some suffered adverse effects. However, receiving my vaccine from our Health Secretary is a privilege),” Superable said.

Superable was among the 500 senior citizens who lined-up to get inoculated during the simulation exercise at the Giga vaccination center of the Pasay City government.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the 500 senior citizens were administered the Sinovac vaccine.

Rubiano said Duque was with Presidential Spokesman and the city’s “Big Brother” Harry Roque, National Task Force Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia during the simulation of the actual vaccination of the city’s 500 senior.

She said the city government’s biggest vaccination center can accommodate at least 2,000 patients per day and 50,000 per month.

The mayor added that the project was made possible through a partnership with SM Supermalls.
