Pasay City—SM President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio emphasized the role of business leaders in driving sustainability during the UNGC-GRI Sustainability Summit held on August 20, 2019 at the Conrad Manila, Pasay City.
“We uphold ourselves to the highest degree of responsibility and accountability to create shared value for all, most especially in the communities we serve,” DyBuncio said. “Our journey towards sustainability continues and we are committed to continue on with that journey,” he added.
As a testament to SM’s commitment to sustainability, all publicly listed companies within the SM group publish annual sustainability reports. In 2018, all sustainability reports of the SM group have completed the materiality service of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), ahead of any regulatory requirement.
SM’s sustainability initiatives are aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs or Global Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that people enjoy peace and prosperity.
