For Sean Uy and his family, their recipe for success started with the first ingredient: a dream to bring something new and unique to Filipinos. His grandparents used to be distributors of flour, while his uncle was a supplier for a supermarket. In college, Sean also started his own business, building food stands at a university in Manila.
He and his family continued to think of new products to offer to Filipinos. In 2019, they brought to local shores Jim’s Recipe, which had been gaining fame in Malaysia, China, Hong Kong and Singapore for its fluffy and flavorful sponge cakes.

“We believe that we Filipinos deserve to experience truly world-class food,” says Sean, who serves as Jim’s Recipe’s Managing Director.
“It was a new concept at that time, we had to introduce sponge cakes to the market, and when they tasted our products, I am glad they liked it,” he adds.

Jim’s Recipe’s first branch opened at the SM Mall of Asia last year. It has since opened more branches around the country, five more of which can be found at different SM malls.
