They say age is just a number, but turning 60 is an extraordinary feat. This is especially true for a brand that has humble beginnings as a shoe store in Carriedo, Manila.

SM, one of Southeast Asia’s largest integrated property developers, celebrated its #AweSM 60th year with business partners and valued stakeholders in a balloon-filled party at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium.

The celebration kicked off with a fashion show featuring celebrities and influencers modelling for SM’s in-house brands such as SM Parisian, SM Youth, SM Woman, SM Men, GTW by SM, SM Accessories, SM Kids, SM Markets, The SM Store, and SM Development Corporation (SMDC).
Spotted on the runway were models Kaila Estrada, Tommy Esguerra, Richard Juan, Joey Mead King, and Fabio Ide. Race car driver Marlon Stockinger alongside actor Xian Lim, actress and entrepreneur Bettina Carlos, celebrity socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes, actress Denise Laurel, doctor-to-the-stars Vicki Belo, and her husband Hayden Kho were also present at the party. Members of the Gutierrez family—actress Sarah Lahbati, former beauty queen and model Ruffa Gutierrez, TV host Raymond Gutierrez, and actor Richard Gutierrez—were in attendance, too.
Current Miss Earth Philippines victors Silvia Celeste Cortesi (Earth), Zahra Bianca Saldua (Air), Berjayneth Chee (Water), Jean de Jesus (Fire), and Halimatu Yushawu (Miss Eco-tourism) also made an appearance at the runway fresh from winning the competition a few days ago. News anchor Ces Drilon and celebrated actor Gabby Concepcion were also at the party.
SM executives—including SM Prime Holdings Executive Committee Chair Hans Sy, SM Investments Corp.Vice Chair Tessie Sy-Coson, SM Markets Vice Chair Herbert Sy, SM Retail Non-Food Group Vice Chair Harley Sy, SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation President Elizabeth Sy, and SM Supermalls Chief Operating Officer Steven Tan—concluded the celebration with a toast to future successes.
“For six decades, SM has become part of the lives of every Filipino family—from a kid choosing his first pair of school shoes at The SM Store and spending your first paycheck on groceries at SM Markets to treat mom and dad to enabling a young couple to acquire their first SMDC home, and sharing a fun weekend with the whole family at SM Supermalls,” says Tan.
As a treat for all its customers, SM offered discounts, deals, and sale events in its malls nationwide last May 25 and 26. Promos included meals for only P60, paying P60 less the retail price, or paying only 60% of it.
