SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) and its subsidiaries
clinched 10 awards for scoring high in the recently concluded 2019 ASEAN Corporate Governance
Scorecard (ACGS) assessments.
For the 2019 ACGS Assessment, three award categories were recognized: Top 20 ASEAN Publicly Listed
Companies, ASEAN Asset Class Award and Top 3 Publicly Listed Companies per Country.
Under the ASEAN Asset Class Award, cited were SMIC, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), 2GO
Group, Inc., BDO Unibank, Inc., Belle Corporation, China Banking Corporation (China Bank) and
Premium Leisure Corp.
China Bank and SM Prime were named under Top 20 ASEAN Publicly Listed Companies. China Bank
was recognized among the Top 3 Publicly Listed Companies per Country.
SM Investments Corporation (SM) and BDO Unibank, Inc. were recognized as leaders in corporate sustainability with a Platinum Award in 2019 The Asset ESG Corporate Awards. Both corporates received the highest honor, Platinum Awards for the 9th consecutive year. SM and BDO were rated highly in these metrics, joining top corporates in the region for Excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance performance.
The Asset also recognized SM Investor Relations Team as one of the 13 Best Investor Relations Team Awardees in the region for their contribution and effective communication in addressing investors’ concerns.
SM Investments Corporation (SM) received a Gold award for its 2018 Sustainability Report for the second consecutive year from the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) in the recently held Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASR Rating) 2019 in Indonesia.
SM Investments Corporation (SM) placed on Forbes’ Global 2000 list of World’s Best Employers for the third year in a row, based on an independent survey. The holding company emerged as the highest ranked Philippine company on the list, earning Top 183 among the Top 500-ranked companies.
SM Investments Corporation (SM) has been named by Forbes as one of the top regarded companies in the annual list of the World’s Best Regarded Companies, ranked based on trustworthiness and company’s performance.
SM took No. 172 place, climbing 63 spots from last year’s 235th place among the Forbes 2019 Global 2000-Best Regarded Companies.

(BDO), BDO Leasing and Finance Inc., China Banking Corporation (China Bank), Premium Leisure Corp., Belle Corporation, Pacific Online Systems Corporation, 2GO Group, Inc. and Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development Corporation were cited among the top performing companies in the Philippines out of a total of 48 publicly-listed firms recognized under the ACGS and for their continued efforts to raise the level of compliance with the ASEAN corporate governance principles.

SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) won Bronze for Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (Digital) for SMIC Sustainability Microsite category at the 5th Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA).
BDO won Bronze for Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (First Time) Category.
SM Investments Corporation (SMIC), SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) and China Banking Corporation (China Bank) won seven awards for leadership and best practices in ASEAN Corporate Governance during the 2nd ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards held on November 21, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Out of the Top 50 ASEAN publicly-listed companies awarded, SM Prime, SMIC and China Bank placed prominently with SM Prime seizing a spot in the Top 10 while SMIC and China Bank were counted among the Top 30.
Based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS), which assesses good practices that aim to protect firms from financial crises and lead to greater capital market development, SM Prime, SMIC and China Bank were given high honors, securing the prestigious Top 3 spots in the Philippines.
SMIC also received a citation as among the Top 2 Most Improved Publicly-Listed Companies in the Philippines as it continues to recognize the vital role that a strong corporate governance culture plays in its businesses.
